The Enrichment Programme at Chestnut Grove is an important part of what we have to offer our students. Students are encouraged to extend their horizons, develop their talents, and take part in interesting activities to enhance an already packed curriculum. Our Enrichment Programme helps to build students; confidence and gives them the chance to make new friends outside of their usual classes. Many of the clubs give students the opportunity to take part in competitions, concerts and tournaments, supporting our sense of school community.

Clubs run in the morning before lessons, during lunchtimes, and from 3:05pm to 5pm daily, and include a variety of activities from active pursuits such as dance and boxing, to indoor hobbies such as chess and pottery. We also have an extensive programme of performing arts clubs throughout the year, including samba and jazz, as well as our champion steel pan bands. In addition, we offer targeted intervention sessions led by specialist teachers in a range of subjects including English and Maths, and facilitate homework clubs and a general Learning Zone run by our Learning Support Assisstants in the library.

Hundreds of children at Chestnut Grove Academy also complete the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award. Students achieve the award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections - Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. The award enables students to help people or the local community, become fitter, develop skills, and take part in two expeditions. Students have volunteered at numerous primary schools, sports clubs and theatre companies, and have developed skills ranging from Steel Pans to Sign language. The Award is open for anyone between the age of 14-24. Any interested students should speak to Mr James Hallsworth in the PE Department:

We always welcome new members, and encourage all students to come and try an activity! Please see below for our full list of clubs and important links.
