Subject Overview

The Chestnut Grove MFL curriculum promotes students’ open-mindedness towards foreign culture, language and being a citizen of the world, which encourages them to question their own experiences, and the world around them. It allows students to understand how different languages are constructed, make links between them and to be empowered to communicate, express opinions and formulate ideas in other languages.

There are many benefits to learning a language. It:

  • Improves your confidence
  • Teaches you more about your own language
  • Widens your career/job options
  • Gives you more of an understanding of the world
  • Connects the world and promote peace
  • Makes travelling easier and more enjoyable
  • Helps you make friends in a new country
  • Shows that you are open minded and tolerant
  • Boost brain power
